DOSBox Mouse Sensitivity Issue Fix

The Issue

Last night I decided to check out Phantasmagoria for the first time since the game was originally released in 1995. I planned on doing a play though and review, but I was immediately faced with awful mouse sensitivity. It was so bad that the game was almost unplayable. Keep in mind that this is a point-and-click game. So, you can imagine how important the mouse is.

I assumed that the DPI I was using would be considered extremely high by 1995 standards. Some internet searches suggested modifying the DOSBox config file to adjust the DOSBox config file and set the sensitivity lower than 100. This did not fix the issue.

The Solution

I later found on the GOG forums that there is a mouse option in Windows called “Enhance pointer precision”. Disabling this option did the trick! I have the steps outlined below for anyone else with this issue.

The Steps

In the Windows Search bar, type Control Panel and open it

Select Hardware and Sound

Select Mouse

Select Pointer Options

Uncheck the “Enhance pointer precision

Click OK.
